The First Step in Building a Success Platform

If you are serious about growing your business (P.S. if you are a 501(C)3, you are a corporate entity which means you are a business), you will need to agree to find a balance between the time you spend working IN your business and the time you spend working ON your business.

Here is a great example of what I am referring to; many years ago, I owned and operated my own horse boarding/training facility in the Midwest. I was certain that if I were the best teacher/trainer and caretaker for my customers, the
“REST” would take care of itself. I was working 15 hour days, 7 days a week with my only day off on Christmas. The mistake I made was spending ALL of my time working IN my business and spending virtually NONE of my time working ON my business. One without the other is a ticket on the train to disaster! You need to strike a balance between the two. If you hate handling the business side of your business, focus your volunteer recruitment on finding retired business/sales/marketing folks who love to do that type of work. Success in business is all about finding and maintaining a balance between the two.

Here is the good news; if you haven’t been able to figure out why you are working like a dog and still not getting ahead financially, I would bet it is because you are spending 20 hours a day working IN your business and ZERO hours working ON your business. Get those in balance and you will quickly see things turn around for the better. Check out next week’s newsletter for more Success Steps.

Quote # 2 for the week: “Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down.” Unknown

Quote # 3 for the week:
“Obstacles are those frightful things you
see when you take your eyes off your goal.”
Henry Ford
